The course will cover key topics such as language acquisition theories, bilingualism, and the practical aspects of balancing multiple languages in daily life, particularly in a country where language can play a significant role in education, employment, and social integration.

• Belgium's Linguistic Diversity: How to navigate the country’s regional differences in language use (Flemish in Flanders, French in Wallonia and Brussels, and German in parts of the East), and how to support children who may be exposed to more than one of these official languages at home or in school.
• Multilingualism in Belgian Schools: Understanding how Belgian schools approach language education, including the multilingual curriculum and language immersion programs, particularly in Brussels, a multicultural and multilingual city.
• Language Development in a Multilingual Context: Strategies for supporting children who may be exposed to multiple languages in different contexts (e.g., Dutch at school, French at home, and another language within the community) while helping them maintain a sense of linguistic and cultural identity.
